Voluntary Action Lewisham (VAL) is a membership charity who provide leadership and support to charities, community groups and social enterprises working to enhance the lives of Lewisham residents.

VAL currently have a new training programme, Safeguarding adults at risk for faith groups in Lewisham which is commissioned by Lewisham Safeguarding Adults Board.

What you will learn

This introductory level training programme aims to help people who volunteer or work in a faith setting to identify abuse of adults at risk and recognise possible indicators.

  • People with care and support needs such as older people or people with disabilities are more likely to be abused or neglected
  • People with communication difficulties can be particularly at risk because they may not be able to alert others
  • Signs of abuse can often be difficult to detect

The following dates are available to book. The next upcoming session is on Thursday 7th December 2017 and can be booked via VAL’S website: http://www.valewisham.org.uk/events/safeguarding-adults-risk-training-faith-groups-0.

Please note: Spaces are limited.

A further session is scheduled for next year on 3rd February 2018.
